Cocciopesto is manufactured specifically for its pozzolanic reaction to produce hydraulic lime mortar without compromising vapor permeability.
It consists of crushed brick and roof tiles fired at low temperatures (900° to 1000° C) to retain a positive pozzolanic reaction. It is screened to obtain particle size ranging from fine powder to coarse grit.
This material has been utilized for over 2000 years to improve lime mortars for use in moist or wet conditions, to mitigate rising damp and in extreme exposure areas such as wall copings, chimney tops, foundation walls basements walls and floors.
